Netflix N' Chill Series: Power

STARZ POWER RECAP: DON'T THANK ME S4E5

ACT 1

What an episode to start blogging from! 50 cents co-executive show POWER has been a roller-coaster since day one. S4E5 has been one of those top ride attractions at a theme park - one of those that you can’t help but come back to.

There was a point at the start of this episode where I thought things were looking good for Ghost – actually I’ll call him James St. Patrick (Don’t want them using this post as evidence to get my g Ghost)

So yeah, I honestly believed it was looking good for the man, then you realise, time is running out. Not only with the case but his businesses outside of prison - can he really leave it up to Tommy to run it all?

With the DEA hot on JSP’s tail, you do find it hard to remember Tommy needs to run a drug business and Dre to run the club, to be honest the first arc of this episode really has you believing JSP is running out of options.

After last weeks reveal, Valdez finds herself turning to an unlikely ally in Proctor, who’s now off the case for conflict of interest.

ACT 2

Coming up to halfway through the episode I found myself realising how much of a psycho Tommy is this season. I'm not sure whats overcome him since he choked out Holly but his face when he found out Dre took Tariq to the party, is that of a serial killer when you rub them up the wrong way. Also, have we forgotten Tommy butchered Greg's friend last week? - I'm telling you, a serial killer in the making.

Silver was low-key, Man of the Match this episode. Like JSP, I don’t trust the guy and that’s only because he means too well. Actually, scrap the man of the match call - he was getting too cosy with Tasha and we know what happens when you get too close to her.

Things begin to fall apart for JSP when he’s put on the stand. Earlier in the episode, when he was called up as a witness he did well with the questions given to him. Later JSP finds himself on the stand again and despite the warnings from Silver, the aggression finally makes another appearance during an outburst of frustration.

Shout out to JSP for making sure he gets his workouts in this season, in prison but hitting the gym every day. He finds himself pushed to his boiling point when Marshall (Charlie Murphy) pushes his buttons and oh man, I was praying this was all a dream. If he thought he shouldn't get the death penalty for killing Greg, he is definitely getting the needle for this. Luckily Terasi comes to his rescue and they stage a suicide.

WHAT A SCENE!!

I couldn't help but wonder why Teresi decided to help JSP. What benefits can he get from the guy? He got his hands dirty so now he’ll be seen as an accomplice. Later Teresi tells JSP to give something to Tommy and couldn't help but think Teresi is related to Tommy somehow… which opens for more storylines in the next season. IMAGINE, Tommy Teresi, Jheez, sounds like a crazy Mafia boss.

Tommy finally confesses about Holly to Tasha but what has this done for the future? Tasha spoke in a way in which she's willing to sacrifice some of the people around her for her family.

ACT 3

Valdez is called to the stand and finally, this deluded woman shows she can see sense. She does the noble thing by exposing her team but in return is suspended after her team bring up evidence on her.

All this he said/she said results in an unexpected turnout. St. Patrick is a free man! This now means there are bigger battles on the horizon. In the meantime, even though Angela took a fall, she still needs to get to the bottom of who killed Greg. We already know, so it’ll be interesting to see where Angela’s journey will take her - the truth always comes to light.

After almost getting finessed by Silver (Shady guy). Tasha makes the decision to call Simon Stern, who earlier in the episode tried to offer JSP money to be his float whilst he gets his business back together. If I know anything about situations like this, never take such a deal from the devil. I just hope Tasha doesn't get Stern as a float before JSP is out, the guy has enough problems as it is.

The final scene/cliffhanger was an interesting one. In a way, it set the tone for the second half of the season. That dodgy officer Jukebox (what a name) told Kanan she has Tariq and the original plan to use ‘Riq as ransom for money is back on! Even though Kanan seems like he has a soft spot for Tariq, Kanan seemed on board but I don't buy it. I think Kanan’s soft spot for Tariq will be his downfall. He found it easy to kill his own son but hesitated to kill Tariq, this second half will be a very interesting one.

So, Ghost is a free man but for how long? And how will he act when he's brought up to date with everything that's been happening whilst he’s been away?

The final show down...

TeamGhost or TeamKanan

Tune in next week.

Peace.
