Music Video Of The Week 3
Hello there!
I'm going to look at a video recently released by Jamie XX for his song 'GOSH'.
He had an original 'Official' Music video which I'm not going to review but the second 'Official' video which has been released to go hand in hand with his Apple music channel.

So, its slightly abnormal however its pretty awesome. The first thing that attracts me to it is the unlikely scale. The long tracking shots pulling out from the high rise buildings are smooth and a slow reveal works well to invoke a reaction.
My favourite shot is the final shot, which seems to be a drone shot with heavy animation/CGI;(unless this dystopian future setting actually exists where the Eiffel Tower is surrounded by high rises and what seems like wasteland.) The large pull out gives scale to the antagonists issue and problem of not fitting in; something that his 'family' may see as a good thing.
Overall, the choice of shots are brilliant, the musicality works increasingly as the music video goes on. I like the grade and simplicity mixed with large ambitious shots.
