STARZ POWER RECAP: NEW MAN S4E6

Welcome back, guys! It's another week which means another episode and what an episode it has been!

After last week I wasn't sure if it could get much better but to be honest, POWER has been consistent this season.

There is a quite bit to go through this recap so, LET'S BEGIN!

ACT 1

Ghost is out and in the opening scene he is dreaming, reliving the moment he bashed Charlie Murphy's head in (which if you didn't know, is Eddie Murphy's late older brother) who has an amazing story of when he met Prince and Rick James

Also, shout out to Kwabs an underrated artist, whose music played in the beginning. Tasha and Ghost bicker, she seemed uneasy here and it's probably due to the fact she took Sterns offer behind Ghost's back, also possibly because it took the woman who ruined her marriage to free her husband.

We later see Kanan parked outside Truth and if we remember last week he agreed to Jukebox's plan to use Tariq as ransom for money from Ghost and then kill them both.

So far Ghost looks happy, happy to have his life back. He walks into truth with a smile on his face and only we know all the problems that is happening in the background, literally because In walks Howard Stern. They meet for the first time since Ghost's release and Stern confirms Tasha took his deal as the float. In return, Ghost basically acts as his puppet in the real estate business. - More Money, More Problems.

Kanan creeps up on Ghost and pushes him into the car. I was a bit disappointed with Ghosts reaction to seeing Kanan again. I mean, the last time they met, Ghost was sure Kanan was left to burn alive so am I missing something here? Anyway, Kanan explains his intentions and the fact he has Ghosts' son Tariq. I stick by what I said last week with the whole situation with Tariq so keep reading to see if I was right.

Tommy has left town and we finally see why. He meets with Jason Knicks, who we later find out is the boss of Milan. - That psycho Serbian who Tommy and Ghost killed last season. You know who i'm talking about right? This guy.

Once again Tommy is asked to take out Ghost in order for him to move forward. Tommy explains to Jason that he’s been asked of this before and he’d never kill Ghost.

"I ain't ever gon kill ghost" - Tommy

Julio confronts Dre about meeting with Kanan causing more friction between the two. Dre seems problematic. It's as though he wants to corrupt the business from within. I want to know what his plan is.

Tariq gets impatient about Slim not returning and we finally find out where the name Jukebox came from. She can basically imitate any song that came from a Jukebox she was familiar with. She drugs Tariq (again) and I couldn't help but think about the amount of drugs this kid has in his system. - rah.

She begins to sing His Eye Is On The Sparrow, I'm not sure about the "yo mama on her best day" comment  but Lauryn Hill’s rendition of the same song makes Jukebox look like a Sony Walkman

So, Dre the Snake sets up Julio in a three on one fight against the gang he left. What a tough kill to watch, my bro Julio just wanted to move drugs and do right by Ghost. It was sad to see a good man go! He fought them until he couldn't do no more, even after getting stabbed, watching him crawl away was tough! RIP Julio, hopefully, you get the justice you deserve.

For all the SOA fans out there this reminded me of when Jax and the boys witnessed X die in front of them in prison. - trying to keep it spoiler free for the ones that haven't got to season 5 episode 3 of Sons of Anarchy

Those of you that don't mind the spoiler and want to watch the scene, click here

Now with Julio out, it will probably give Dre more responsibility. So I'm guessing a corruption from within looking possible?

ACT 2

Suspense is really a special thing and the build up between Jason and Tommy over drinks was a key example of this. It was obvious Jason had other intentions with Tommy here and to be honest I was just hoping they weren't going to kill him there and then, fortunately for me, they didn't.

After a lovely pre-drinks A drunk Tommy is thrown into the boot of a car and later wakes up ready for an early grave. Petar makes a season return, yeah I don't remember him either. He sets up Tommy (episode full of snakes i swear) Petar informed Jason that Tommy killed Milan without Jason's approval. However, Jason is told to trust Tommy and kills Petar instead. There was a nice bit here, where Tommy accepts his fate and takes himself to a place where he shares a moment with Holly, I really do feel for him, he's just misunderstood. Petar is killed instead and Tommy is spared. The two joke around and part ways like Jason didn't just try in kill him like 30 seconds prior.

Tommy makes his way back to NY but detours to an open house viewing. There's me thinking he wanted to start fresh, a new life and boy, was I wrong. He confronts Hollys Uncle, who molested her when she was a minor. And thus, the Tommy kill count continues. Tommy bashes his face in with a baseball bat and he didn't look like he was gonna clean up after himself too. So far I have not seen anyone clean up the dead bodies Tommy has left behind.

Kanan and Ghost work together to steal Tommy's hidden stash. This was interesting, despite Ghost being Tommy's right-hand it's crazy that Ghost can't just enter the premises without permission. Anyway, the 2 of them manage to take the cash with only one collateral damage! - well done.

It will be interesting to see how Tommy reacts to this but my thoughts are perhaps he’ll let it slide, knowing it was to get back Tariq. I can see Tommy taking matters into his own hands and get his money back from Kanan.

ACT 3

Ghost finally explains to Kanan how he had no choice but to set him up otherwise he’d have to kill him... But he was happy leaving him to burn a couple seasons ago though.

Ghost shows signs of fear after hearing Jukebox has his son and to be honest after seeing what she's capable of I would do the same. I also loved the way Kanan explained Jukebox to Ghost. If ever i need an introduction ill make sure to holla at him for it.

Later, Kanan shows signs of an anti-hero,  he tells ghost he can't kill him or let him go so he might as well kill him. Ghost refuses and they put their differences aside to save Tariq but can ghost really trust Kanan again?

The three-way showdown begins and Jukebox exposes Kanan's Slim alias with Tariq present. Tariq was hanging out with the man his family warned him about. Kanan really did have a soft spot for Tariq and saw a lot of potential in him, more potential than he saw in his own son Shawn. After coming clean to Tariq Kanan shoots Jukebox and escapes with the money, I'm not sure if the beef between them is over but for now, Ghost has bigger fish to fry and Kanan needs to go make it rain in a club somewhere.

This scene says a lot, Ghost now owes Tommy money and how will he react to that?

Also, Tommy will eventually put 2 and 2 together and figure out Dre knew about Kanan the whole time, so that would be altercation to see! Also, after watching Tariq in this scene I do believe he may start going down a dark path, becoming more like his father.

So with Ghost and Kanan book closed (for now) What is next for Ghost, there is still so much to be answered this scene and I can't wait to see how it all unveils.

Thanks for reading,

Have a wonderful weekend and see you next week,

Peace,

Jordan Malonga
