Lou et Lon & Virtue Collaboration

So as some of you may have seen we recently collaborated with Lou et Lon to create their first fashion film. Firstly, a little bit of background about Lou et Lon. Shay Fenlon and Demitiri Christodoulou are two menswear stylist who we've known for a few years. They've recently been getting their name out there and what better way to help them than with some moving image.

INSPIRATION

When the decision for a collaboration was made between VirtueMedia and Lou et Lon the planning process began. For me being, inspiration was key. Having never done a fashion film before I needed to draw on influence and style of other fashion films, while still applying my own style to the look of the film. A recent Mango fashion film gave me the biggest motivation to apply a style to this film. The crash zooms, jerky movement and very much breaking the fourth wall was all part of the plan.

EXECUTION

The actual shoot day went extremely well. We shot on an Sony F55 with an Angenieux Optimo 15-40mm. To be honest it was a dreamy combo. We needed the set up to be light and versatile because we had 6 locations to shoot in on one day. The phrase 'run and gun' was very apparent.  The F55 performed extremely well and only shooting in 2K gave me the chance to only shoot on one card and battery life wasn't a problem. Naturally the 15-40mm lens is pretty wide, however the ability to use 2K centre crop (which doubles the length of your lens without dropping quality) allowed me to only use the one lens and have a range of 15-80mm at T2.8. Lou et Lon had planned out the day extremely well and helped direct me towards what was important in their styles. The key work was collaboration. We worked together bouncing off ideas and together we created something rather unique and entertaining.

Lou et Lon's Testimonial

"It was great for Lou et Lon to collaborate with the like minded & hard working organisation like Virtue on this project. A huge thank you must go to Josh from Virtue who expertly captured the right footage to make our concept reality. We look forward to working with Virtue more regularly in the future."

Shay and Kit keeping afloat.

Overall, the outcome of this project has turned into one centre piece film with all the styles and then 7 mini-vids on their instagram.

If you're interested in a collaboration get in contact with us, we would love to hear from you.

JT.
