Music Video Of The Week 1
Hello!
We will be blogging once a week on all sort of subjects. Today i've chosen to start with #MusicVideoMonday. I will search far and wide for any new or maybe old music video that captivates me and will explain why we feel it is a great music video.
The first be the Music Video “Stromae – quand c’est?“.
Stromae is a Belgian singer/song writer. The song I think translates to “When?”. I’m not going to act like I know the artist because I don’t. Only found out about him about a week ago!
Anyway, I’ll start of with my interpretation of the video and song. The song is about cancer and how it is always trying to find a new victim. Whether it be today or tomorrow.
The video depicts a male who is in a theatre dancing. Metaphorically the dance is representing his fight against cancer. The cancer is shown through vines that keep creeping up on the male whilst also spreading around in the theatre. He is finally taken and joins other unfortunates who have been taken by the vine(cancer).
Although the subject is a sad one, the song is very catchy. The videos choice of black and white works well; it connotates two different extremes or two opposites. “It’s a black and white world”
